At Jefferson City Animal Hospital, we get many interesting questions from pet parents. Below are some common FAQs that might help answer any questions or concerns. Please feel free to contact us for any other concerns you might have about your pet.

What type of pets do you see?

We provide veterinary services to cats and dogs.

Where are you located?


We’re located at 1250 W. Stadium Blvd Jefferson City, MO 65109.

What are your hours?


8:00am – 5:30pm M-F 8:00am – 12pm Saturday – Closed Sunday

What services do you provide?

We are a full-service companion animal hospital. We provide a wide range of medical and surgical care for dogs and cats.

Do you operate by appointment? Can I bring my pet in without an appointment?


We prefer to make appointments to minimize waits. With our experience in ER medicine we are happy to see and comfortable handling walk in urgent care patients. Please understand that walk ins are triaged to be handled case by case.

How do you handle emergencies outside of office hours?


At this time we recommend that those seeking emergent care pursue treatment that the University of Missouri Veterinary Health Center. Please call (573) 882 – 7821 if your pet is experiencing an emergency, being sure to mention you are a patient of Jefferson City Animal Hospital.

Do you offer grooming? What is the procedure?


No, we don’t offer grooming.

Does your hospital treat birds or exotics?


No, we do not treat birds or exotic pets. However, we are happy to refer you to a practice that does.

Do you board pets?


No, we do not offer boarding.

Where do you keep my pet if he or she has to stay overnight?


In the situation that hospitalization is recommended, your pet would stay in our primary treatment area.

Will someone be with my pet if he or she has to stay overnight?


On a case-by-case basis, a veterinary assistant may stay the night. Depending on the level of care needed referral to the University of Missouri Veterinary Health Center may be recommended.

My pet was treated at your hospital, and now it seems that the itching/ear infection has come back. Can I get more medicine?

Generally, we should see the pet again if no refills are indicated on the prescription label.

I took my pet to another veterinarian when she was sick. Now, I just need more medicine and your office is closer. Can I pick up more medicine from you?


It is illegal for us to dispense medication to pets that we have not seen. We may only prescribe for pets we have seen in the last 12 months.

Do you bill?


We do not bill. We do accept credit cards, checks, and cash. We have a credit company program in place that is our only option available for billing. CareCredit utilizes an application that is very similar to a credit card application.

Do you take personal checks?


Yes.

Do you take credit cards?


We take Mastercard, Visa, Discover, American Express and CareCredit.

Do you give senior citizen discounts?


We do not currently have a senior citizens discount in place.

Do you take spay/neuter certificates?


If given by Jefferson City Animal Shelter.

What is your policy on deposits when an animal is hospitalized?


With seriously ill or injured animals, we may require a deposit at the time of hospitalization. This is usually half of the estimated charges. The balance of the bill is required at the time of discharge of the animal.
